Five people have been killed in a shooting in the northern German city of Stade, police told dpa on Monday, adding that a suspect has been detained.
"Shots were fired near a youth centre in the city centre," a spokesman said in response to an enquiry. Nothing is yet known about the circumstances.
The Lüneburg police department advised the public to avoid the area in a post on X.
Stade is located roughly 40 kilometres to the west of the city of Hamburg.
