SHAH ALAM: ive luxury vehicles were seized by the Road Transport Department (RTD) during a targeted enforcement operation in Persiaran Setia Perdana after being found without valid road tax and insurance.

The operation, known as Ops Luxury, was conducted by Selangor RTD on April 1, involving inspections on several high-end vehicles, including a BMW, Mini Countryman, Denza, Tesla, and Toyota Alphard.

According to reports by Sinar Harian and Selangor RTD Facebook, authorities revealed that all the vehicles had expired road tax, with some overdue for up to two years, and none were covered by valid insurance despite their premium status.

When questioned, drivers aged between 30 and 63 gave various reasons, ranging from financial constraints to being too busy, while some admitted they had too many cars and lost track of renewal dates.

One vehicle was also found to be registered under a company.

Further checks showed that two of the drivers had previous offences on record. All five vehicles were subsequently seized and taken to the JPJ Shah Alam headquarters for further action.
