Five-year-old boy killed in Alor Gajah road accident

A five-year-old boy died after being hit by an MPV while crossing Jalan Paya Mengkuang in Alor Gajah, suffering severe head injuries.

ALOR GAJAH: A five-year-old boy was killed after being struck by a multi-purpose vehicle while crossing a road here yesterday.

Alor Gajah police chief Supt Ahmad Abu Bakar said the incident occurred at 5.09 pm on Jalan Paya Mengkuang.

The child was crossing from a residential area to the opposite side of the road when he was hit by a Toyota Avanza.

The MPV was travelling from Paya Mengkuang towards Masjid Tanah and was driven by a 64-year-old man.

“The child suffered severe head injuries and was taken to Masjid Tanah health clinic, where he was pronounced dead while receiving treatment,” Ahmad said in a statement today.

Police urge anyone with information to contact Insp Nurul Salina Rosli at the Alor Gajah Traffic Police Station at 011-2543 5507 or visit the nearest police station.
