LAHAD DATU - A five-year-old girl is missing after she is believed to have been snatched by a crocodile while bathing at a beach in Kampung Pangkalan, Desa Kencana, Felda Sahabat here on Sunday.

Acting Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Station chief Mohd Hamka Mustamin said based on witness accounts, the victim is of Pala’u ethnicity and lives in the coastal area.

"We received a call regarding the incident at 10.27am and a team was deployed to the location, which is about 100 kilometres from Lahad Datu town.

"At the moment, the Fire and Rescue Department and other security agencies are still conducting surface and coastal search operations. The victim’s identity has yet to be confirmed,” he said when contacted by Bernama yesterday. - BERNAMA
