A 25-year-old p-hailing worker was apprehended by police today for setting fire to an auxiliary police car and subsequently sharing a video of the incident on the TikTok platform in an attempt to garner attention. The arrest took place in Flora Damansara around 10 am, with law enforcement confiscating a hammer and a petrol-filled water bottle believed to have been used in the act.

According to Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Mohamad Fakhruddin Abdul Hamid, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect committed the arson with the intention of attracting a large audience on TikTok. The suspect recorded the incident on his mobile phone and posted it online to showcase his involvement.

The incident occurred at 1:42 am near the Mutiara Damansara mass rapid transit (MRT) station when a vehicle owned by Prasarana Malaysia Berhad's auxiliary police was set ablaze, likely by a Molotov cocktail. A video of the suspect with the burning car in the background quickly circulated on social media, accompanied by a caption suggesting his satisfaction with the act.

Further details provided by Mohamad Fakhruddin revealed that the suspect, who works as a food delivery rider, tested positive for morphine but did not have a prior criminal record. The individual will be held in custody pending further legal proceedings.

This incident underscores the potential dangers of using social media platforms to seek attention through unlawful and reckless behavior. It also highlights the importance of law enforcement in swiftly apprehending individuals who engage in such activities, ensuring the safety and security of the community.

Authorities are likely to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the full extent of the suspect's motives and any potential accomplices involved in the crime. In the meantime, it serves as a cautionary tale about the consequences of irresponsible actions in pursuit of online fame.
