SHAH ALAM – Several areas around Shah Alam were hit by flash floods following continuous heavy rain early this morning, causing water to inundate major roads and disrupting traffic movement.

Posts shared by users on the Threads application showed flooding at several locations, including Section 13, Setia Alam and Section 22.

A Threads user, slyuza, reported flooding in front of the Giant shopping mall in Section 13, urging motorists to exercise caution when travelling through the affected area.

Another user, amiruddinsya_, reported at 5am that both directions of the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) between Setia Alam and Shah Alam had been closed due to flooding.

Meanwhile, user nazriahm.ad reported at 3.30am that the highway around Section 13 remained closed, warning of possible traffic congestion during this morning's peak hours.

Another Threads user, faraamcl, shared updates on traffic congestion at the entrance to the NKVE (E1) heading towards the Shah Alam Toll Plaza as commuters began using the route to get to work this morning.

In a separate update, PLUS Malaysia, through its official X account @plustrafik, announced that the route from the Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE) towards the Shah Alam Toll Plaza had been closed due to flash floods.

Motorists were advised to use alternative routes.

However, all lanes of the North-South Expressway Central Link (ELITE) at the Shah Alam interchange, from Seafield towards Setia Alam, which had been closed since last night, have been reopened.

Motorists have nevertheless been advised to remain cautious. - BERNAMA
