Flights to Bicol canceled as Mayon unrest intensifies

MANILA, Philippines—Flights at the Bicol International Airport (BIA) were canceled on Sunday, May 3, due to Mayon Volcano's continued unrest.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) suspended specific flights as a safety precaution.  CAAP confirmed that as of 5:30 a.m., Cebu Pacific flights 5J321 (Manila-BIA) and 5J322 (BIA-Manila) were canceled.

A total of 231 passengers (134 incoming and 97 outgoing), were affected by Sunday's disruptions.

Mayon remains under Alert Level 3, indicating intensified unrest and a potential for a hazardous eruption.

CAAP advised affected passengers to coordinate with their airlines for rebooking or refund options.
