BEAUFORT: The relevant departments, particularly the Sabah Department of Irrigation and Drainage, need to take action to maintain the drainage system in Kampung Rancangan Klias and Kampung Takuli, as the flooding is affecting plantations.

A resident, Mohammad Razaleigh, said during the rainy season, water cannot drain properly, causing it to flood the plantations.

“The ongoing issue has yet to be resolved, leaving many palm oil plantation owners struggling to harvest and sell their crops. Even using a wheelbarrow is difficult, and it’s challenging to access the area with a vehicle, forcing people to transport the palm oil manually, which is exhausting,” he added.

He suggested that to resolve the issue, the Irrigation and Drainage Department should regularly maintain the Takuli River and the surrounding areas.
