Floods: Number of victims in Sabah increases, situation back to normal in Kelantan

KUALA LUMPUR - The flood situation in Kelantan has completely recovered as the temporary relief centre (PPS) at Dewan Semai Bakti Felda Chiku 2, Gua Musang, which housed 218 victims from 51 families, was closed at 10 am today.

All evacuees have been cleared to return home after the floodwaters fully receded.

In Sabah, the number of flood victims has increased to 2,919 people from 814 families as of this afternoon, up from 2,897 people from 813 families this morning.

These flood victims are being housed in 25 temporary relief centers and one permanent relief centre (PPK) in Selagon, Beaufort.

According to the Sabah State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN), two new relief centers have been opened today in the Sipitang district: Dewan Mini Mesapol and Dewan Sekolah Kebangsaan Padang Berampah.

The number of victims is trending upward in the districts of Beaufort, Papar, and Sipitang, while a drop has been noted in Penampang, Membakut, and Putatan.

So far, 126 villages have been affected by the flooding that began on September 9. - BERNAMA
