KOTA KINABALU: Flash floods hit Dah Yeh Villa near Sabah Tshung Tsin Secondary School on Sunday afternoon, with water levels reaching three feet by Monday morning.

The floods, which began around 2.30pm on Sunday, first rose to 2.5 feet before steadily climbing overnight.

By 8.50am Monday, the area was fully inundated, leaving the housing estate cut off by floodwaters.

The incident took place during a long public holiday when most residents and vehicles were away from the area.

Residents noted that the timing spared many cars from damage, as the road is usually lined with parked vehicles on regular workdays.
