Students must adopt seven Cs in their life to achieve their goals, said Commander Jagmohan S Bhogal (retd), a veteran Indian Naval Officer and life skills coach, while addressing a counselling session at The Tribune Edu Expo in Shimla on Wednesday. He added, “These seven Cs are clarity, commitment, communication, confidence, competence, consistency and community, which everyone should develop. Once developed, no one will be able to stop you from achieving your goals, be it academics, sports, competitive exams or any other skill.”
Commander Bhogal, a former Senior Director, Quality Council of India, and Former Head of Pradhan Mantri YUV Yojana, elaborated on the seven Cs and said that one should have clarity about his goals and career choices and what was needed to be done to achieve these. He added that one should always be committed towards achieving his goals and should refrain from procrastinating. “Communication is also very important as one should know how to effectively communicate to achieve his goals. One should have confidence in himself. Students should approach their goals with full confidence, which is the key for success,” he added.
Commander Bhogal said, “Consistency is very important to achieve one’s goals. One should ensure that whatever he pursues, it is done with consistency.” About competence, he said that one should be competent in every work he does. “Students should ensure that whatever they want to pursue or whatever they do, they do it with perfection,” he added.
Commander Bhogal said, “Community is very important for the overall growth of a person. One should focus on connecting with people, who extend support to you. People should have a progressive and positive mindset, which will encourage them to focus on their careers rather than wasting time.”
He also encouraged the students to focus on skill development and be aware about the kind of skills they have, what were their strengths and what skills they needed to learn. “If confused, the students should approach their community such as parents, teachers to seek their guidance,” he added.
The students appreciated the career counselling session, which, according to them, was fruitful and they learned a lot of new things about how to achieve their goals.
