PARTI Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged all parties to remain calm following calls from several party leaders to take action against Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli.
Anwar, who is also the Prime Minister, said that the focus should instead be on the country's economic issues, which are more pressing, rather than personal conflicts.
According to him, as the party President, any views or advice regarding the matter will be dealt with appropriately, but the priority at this time is the stability and well-being of the people.
"Put all personal differences aside, focus on the country's economic problems, which are far more serious," he said when met after performing Friday prayers at the Nurussa'adah Mosque, in Kampung Cheras Baru today.
Earlier, Rafizi, who is also the former PKR Deputy President, shared his response to the show cause letter issued by the party against him via his Facebook social media page.
Through the post, the Pandan MP, among others, hoped that the PKR Disciplinary Board would make a firm, quick decision and no longer delay the matter because the people are fed up.
Rafizi said that if his explanation regarding the charges imposed was considered to have violated the party's Constitution, he urged that PKR take action to dismiss him, as has been done to other party members who were previously charged with disciplinary matters.
Meanwhile, in another development, when asked about the statement by Singapore's Foreign Minister, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, that the country would not be involved in negotiations with Iran for safe passage of ships or toll rates in the Strait of Hormuz, Anwar said that the matter was Singapore's view and should be respected as a matter of that country.
“That is Singapore’s view, their business. Our business, we are friendly, but we take a firm stance,” he explained.
He also stressed that Malaysia is consistent in its foreign policy, including in dealing with international issues such as the Iran-Israel conflict.
“We cannot just discuss Iran’s response without touching on Israel’s attack on Iran. Our relations are clear, and friendship with neighbouring countries will continue to be maintained,” he added. – April 10, 2026
