
Kota Kinabalu: A total of 30 coaches participated in a grassroots soccer coaching course organised by Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) with the collaboration from Sabah Football Association (Safa) in Ranau over the weekend.
Safa executive secretary, David Wisom said the session conducted by Hilary John Baptis Gabando and assisted by Petronella Douny was a success with the response from participants also outside Ranau such as Kudat, Beaufort, Sandakan, Kunak, Tawau and Labuan,
“This course has been very well received and all the participants have shown high commitment and this is a positive sign for the progress of football in this state.
“In line with the efforts of FAM and Safa to produce more players to back up the state team and national team in the future, we have so far produced 180 qualified trainers from the six courses held so far , and there is a need for us to continue such courses,” he said.
