TAWAU: Police have arrested a 29-year-old foreign man on suspicion of trespassing into the grounds of a driving school along Jalan Hilltop here in an incident reported early Friday.
Acting Tawau police chief Supt Wilynton Enchana Watt said officers from the District Crime Prevention and Community Safety Division's Mobile Patrol Vehicle (MPV) Unit detained the suspect after receiving information about a suspicious man inside the premises.
He said the initial report came from a security guard who spotted an unidentified man loitering within the compound of the Tawau Driving Centre, adding that police are still investigating the motive for the alleged trespass.
Further checks found the suspect did not possess any valid identification or travel documents to remain in the country, while no suspicious items were found in his possession and he had no previous criminal record.
The case is being investigated under Section 447 of the Penal Code for criminal trespass and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for being in the country without valid travel documents.
