PENAMPANG: A 27-year-old foreign woman was arrested for alleged involvement in prostitution during a police raid at a hotel along Jalan Bundusan, here, Sunday night.
District Police Chief Supt Sammy Newton said the 10.30pm operation, codenamed “Op Noda”, was carried out by the district’s Criminal Investigation Division.
“Initial investigations revealed the suspect had been offering sex services through online platforms to attract customers,” he said in a statement, Monday.
During the raid, police also seized several items including mobile phones, condoms, and cash believed to be linked to the illegal activity.
The case is being investigated under Section 372B of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of up to one year in prison, a fine, or both upon conviction.
Supt Sammy reiterated the Penampang police’s commitment to curbing immoral activities and urged the public to report any such crimes in their areas.
