
BELURAN: A foreign national was arrested for allegedly possessing 51.46 grammes of syabu during an operation along the Yayasan Sugut Sdn Bhd plantation road in Paitan early Saturday.
Beluran District Police Chief Supt Hasan Majid said the 42-year-old suspect was arrested by a team from the Beluran District Police Headquarters (IPD) Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division at about 2.10am.
He said a check of the sling bag carried by the suspect found a plastic packet containing crystalline substance believed to be syabu, weighing 51.46 grammes.
“The suspect is a foreign national and did not possess any identification documents. Checks also found that he had no previous criminal record,” he said in a statement here Saturday.
Hasan said a urine screening test found the suspect positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine.
The suspect is being detained at the Beluran Police Station and the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
