TAWAU: A 26-year-old foreigner was arrested after police found a Colt .45 semi-automatic pistol, ammunition and 901.35 grammes of suspected methamphetamine during a raid at an accommodation unit in Jalan Dunlop, here, Wednesday.
District Police Chief ACP Rosdi Mat Jusoh said the pistol, a magazine and three rounds of ammunition were found in a black plastic bag hidden inside the room.
“The suspect then led police to a Proton Wira parked at the premises, where a sling bag containing clear crystal chunks believed to be methamphetamine weighing 901.35 grammes was found under the driver’s seat,” he said, Friday.
The operation was conducted jointly by the District Criminal Investigation Division (BSJD) and District Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (BSJND).
Rosdi said preliminary investigations found the suspect admitted the drugs belonged to him, while a urine test returned positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
He said the suspect also admitted obtaining the pistol from a man from another district who was believed to be planning to sell it to another party in a neighbouring country.
“The suspect has been remanded for 14 days and investigations are being conducted under Section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971, Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63,” he said.
