
Sabah MACC detains former assistant accountant for submitting false documents and suspected bribery involving RM90,000 in maintenance works.
KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Sabah has arrested a former assistant accountant from a government agency. She is suspected of submitting fraudulent documents for maintenance work worth approximately RM90,000.
A source stated the woman, in her 50s, was detained during an operation here. Preliminary investigations indicate the alleged offences occurred around 2025.
The suspect is believed to have submitted false government orders, invoices, and company quotations. These documents pertained to supply, upgrade, and maintenance works at her department.
She is also suspected of making direct appointments to companies owned by family members. This act is being investigated as a potential bribery offence.
Sabah MACC director Datuk Fuad Bee Basrah confirmed the arrest. He said the case is being probed under Sections 18 and 23 of the MACC Act 2009.
