Former foreign affairs minister Anifah sworn in as senator

KUALA LUMPUR – Former foreign affairs minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman has been appointed as senator at the Dewan Negara, effective today.

His appointment was consented to by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to represent the Federal Territory of Labuan.

In a statement, Anifah expressed his appreciation to Sabah chief minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for their support and trust in recommending him to be a senator.

“(I am) grateful for the opportunity to serve the country and the people of Malaysia in this new capacity as a senator.

“I am committed to upholding the principles of democracy, good governance, and the rule of law and will work tirelessly towards the betterment of the nation and the well-being of all Malaysians.

As a former foreign affairs minister, Anifah brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Senate. 

“(I) look forward to contributing to meaningful discussions and debates that will shape Malaysia’s future and strengthen its position on the global stage,” he added. – The Vibes, March 20, 2023
