MANILA, Philippines — Former Naga, Camarines Sur mayor and former Interior secretary Jesse Robredo was remembered and honored on his 14th death anniversary.
A wreath-laying ceremony, attended by former vice president and now Naga Mayor Maria Leonor Robredo, was conducted at the city hall grounds on Tuesday, facilitated by members of the Naga City Police Office. It was followed by a gun salute.
"Today, we commemorate the 14th death anniversary of Jesse M. Robredo, a public servant remembered for his humility, integrity, and commitment to good governance. His 'Tsinelas Leadership' reflected his simple lifestyle, participatory approach, and sincere dedication to serving the people," the National Historical Commission of the Philippines' Museo ni Jesse Robredo said on Facebook.
Robredo died on Aug. 18, 2012 in a plane crash off Masbate's coast.
"Fourteen years after his passing, we continue to remember and honor his enduring legacy of humble and meaningful public service," the museum said.
