- Former Metropolitan Police officer Mark Tyrrell has been found guilty of rape, three counts of sexual assault, and perverting the course of justice following a trial at Southwark Crown Court.
- The 57-year-old served in the Met Police's Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command, the same unit as convicted rapists Wayne Couzens and David Carrick.
- Prosecuting lawyers told the court that Tyrrell emotionally bullied and manipulated his victim to satisfy his sexual needs, ignoring her when she repeatedly told him no.
- Tyrrell previously admitted misconduct in a public office and perverting the course of justice after attempting to delete messages and persuading the woman to lie to police officers.
- The defendant, who resigned from the force in September 2023 following his arrest, is scheduled to be sentenced at Southwark Crown Court on 16 December.
