
KUNAK: Datuk Yahamad Budin, 74, who served as Persatuan Masyarakat Brunei Kota Kinabalu Branch Chairman, was killed when the Toyota Hiace van he was driving crashed, trapping him in the driver’s seat, along Jalan Kunak-Lahad Datu, Sunday.
Eight passengers in the vehicle sustained injuries in the 7.19am incident.
Kunak Fire and Rescue Chief Mohamad Omarbatha said rescue teams used specialised equipment to extract the trapped driver from the wreckage.

The eight injured passengers comprising four men and four women aged between 46 and 75 received initial treatment from emergency medical teams and Kunak Hospital paramedics before being transported to the hospital for further care. Police were also present at the scene.
The group had been returning to Kota Kinabalu from Semporna after conducting charity programs in Tawau and Semporna over several days.
Yahamad, who also previously served as head of the Sabah Scout Council, leaves behind a legacy of community service and charitable work.
