KUALA LUMPUR: A former shop assistant was slapped with the maximum fine of RM100 for insulting behaviour by the Magistrate’s Court here today for humiliating a woman by displaying her face before and after applying make-up during a live broadcast on TikTok.

Magistrate Farah Nabihah Muhamad Dan meted out the fine on Nurul Hidayah Yusuf, 23, who pleaded guilty to the charge.

She was charged with humiliating the 23-year-old woman by placing a picture of the victim as the background image of a live broadcast on TikTok and comparing the victim's face before and after applying make-up without permission.

Based on the facts of the case, the victim found out about the incident after receiving a screen recording of the live broadcast from her friend via WhatsApp.

Feeling humiliated and embarrassed by the comparison, the victim filed a police report.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Amritpreet Kaur Randhawa appeared for the prosecution, while the accused was unrepresented.
