KUALA LUMPUR – Police have arrested four men suspected of stealing cables along the Putrajaya MRT Line, an incident that caused a three-day disruption to commuter services earlier this month.

The suspects, aged between 30 and 45, were apprehended during a joint operation conducted by the Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) Auxiliary Police Unit and the Selangor Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK).

Following their arrest, the individuals were taken to the crime scene to assist authorities in identifying recovered evidence and advancing the investigation.

The operation followed a police report filed by Prasarana on March 3 after a cable theft near the Sri Damansara Barat Station disrupted services along the line.

In a statement, Prasarana President and Group Chief Executive Officer Amir Hamdan commended the Selangor IPK for their swift and professional handling of the case.

“The auxiliary police and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will strengthen continuous cooperation through monitoring, intelligence gathering, and information sharing to curb cable theft,” he said.

Prasarana also reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing security along the Putrajaya Line, including increased patrols, strategic monitoring, and close collaboration with authorities to safeguard public transport infrastructure.

The public has been urged to report any suspicious activity that may threaten the safety of national public transport facilities. - March 15, 2026
