A day after a deadly fire in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar claimed 21 lives, four people sustained burn injuries as another fire broke out during the replacement of an LPG cylinder at a small tea-and-meal stall operating from a house in the Amarpuri area of Central Delhi’s Nabi Karim on Thursday morning, police said.
According to police, a PCR call regarding the incident at House No. A-88, Amarpuri, was received at Nabi Karim Police Station at around 9.29 am. Police personnel rushed to the spot and found that the fire had broken out inside a small room on the ground floor of the building.
A preliminary inquiry revealed that the room was being used by 35-year-old Sarita to prepare and sell tea and simple meals, including dal-rice. At the time of the incident, a man identified as Krishna was replacing an LPG cylinder at Sarita’s request.
While opening the regulator, a sudden fire reportedly erupted, engulfing those present nearby.
Sarita, Krishna, 37, Ajay, 19, who had come for tea, and Zafir, 35, a passer-by, suffered burn injuries in the incident.
All four injured persons were immediately shifted to Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
Police said further inquiry into the incident is under way. No fatalities have been reported so far.
