FOUR men have been charged in the Sessions Court in Kuala Selangor for alleged involvement in the organised crime syndicate known as Geng TR, with authorities claiming the group has operated for at least five years.

The accused – S. Sugumaran, 45, S. Rajah, 27, M. Deva Kumaran, 44, and M. Mugilan, 35 – were formally charged under Section 130V(1) of the Penal Code for being members of an organised criminal group, an offence carrying a prison term of between five and 20 years upon conviction.

The charges relate to activities allegedly carried out at a restaurant on Jalan Bagan Sungai Janggut in Jeram, Selangor, between November 2019 and 11 September 2025.

All four men nodded in understanding as the court interpreter read out the charges before Judge Nurul Mardhiah Mohammed Redza. However, no pleas were recorded as the matter falls under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (SOSMA), which places the case under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

Deputy Public Prosecutors Shafiq Hasim and Lina Hanini Ismail appeared for the prosecution.

The court was informed that the Klang High Court would fix a date for the next mention of the case. -- October 3, 2025
