Four plead not guilty to damaging TM cable

Kota Kinabalu: Four men pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here to jointly damaging a cable belonging to Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) last month.

Mohd Fardy Eddie, 43, Mohd Fikrey Dzulpie, 28, Sobree Ajilan, 39, and Mohamad Aidill Fittiry Jita, 28, entered their pleas before Judge Monica Linsua.

They were accused of damaging the TM cable near Merdeka supermarket in Lido at about 3.19am on April 26.

The charge was framed under Section 235(1) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, punishable under Section 235(3) of the same Act, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code for common intention.

The court fixed July 9 for pre-trial case management and released the four on bail of RM2,000 with one local surety each, while Deputy Public Prosecutor Akaash Singh appeared for the prosecution, Sobree was represented by counsels Faezah Abby Ibnu and Azwa Safina Madlan, Mohd Fardy was represented by counsel Khairudin Noordin, and the other two accused were unrepresented.
