SIPITANG: Four premises, including residential units and a prayer hall were destroyed in a fire in Kampung Batu 7, Kampung Pantai Sogip, here, Monday.

Fire and Rescue Station Chief Calvin Joe Jeafery on Tuesday said two fire engines and six personnel were dispatched to the scene, arriving at 8.27am after receiving the distress call.

Firefighters used a 300ft hose with offensive tactics, drawing water from their vehicles. No casualties were reported. The cause of the fire and estimated losses remain under investigation.

On the same day, personnel also responded to a snake intrusion at a house in Kampung Pelakat at 12.20pm, capturing the reptile that had hidden among boxes in the kitchen area.

At about 8.10pm on Saturday, the team was called to destroy a wasp nest at the Sipitang Hospital, with firefighters using ladders to access the hospital roof and spray the nest until it was eliminated.
