Four teenagers feared drowned at Tanjung Lompat

A CAMPING trip for 15 teenagers during the school holidays ended in tragedy when four were feared drowned while two survived while bathing at Tanjung Lompat Beach, Tanjung Balau, Penawar, Kota Tinggi, yesterday.

Search and rescue operations for the missing victims were reportedly ongoing.

The victims who have not yet been found are Alif Taqiudin, Mohd Haiman, Adib Rizqi and Thaqif Rayyan.

Operations Commander from the Penawar Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), Senior Fire Officer I Muhammad Adib Tarmuzi, said they received a distress call regarding the incident at 6.19 pm.

Rescue personnel rushed to the scene of the incident, which is 9 kilometres away.

"Initial information from the public indicated that six victims were out in the sea. They are all 16-year-old teenagers who were camping at the beach," he said in a statement today.

The search and rescue operation for four missing victims is still ongoing, while two were successfully rescued by the public. – September 2, 2026
