Kota Kinabalu: Four tonnes of waste including hazardous trees, drain silt and rusty items at the old Kota Kinabalu Police Station were carried off site on two trucks in a community effort.

It was the second “gotong-royong” for Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah’s (Gagasan Rakyat) Api-Api wings in rejuvenating the decades old building in collaboration with Almacrest International College students, the Malaysian Relief Agency and City Hall.

“We want the youth to keep that mindset instead of fear or guilt towards the protectors of the community,” he said.

Faisyal, who is also Suria Group Chairman which oversees Sabah Ports Sdn Bhd, welcomed the students who are mostly studying business and public education for a tour and internship opportunity.

“The programme will continue next year to further build rapport as the Gagasan Rakyat youth are more than willing to help authorities,” he said.
