Dinosaur fossils illegally exported from Mongolia will soon be returned after French customs uncovered a major fossil trafficking operation.

The seizures, made in the Allier department, include nearly the full skeleton of a Tarbosaurus as well as eggs and bones from Oviraptor and Ornithischian species.

Mongolia has banned the export of its paleontological heritage for over a century, yet customs officials report increasing interceptions of fossils from several countries. Confiscated items are typically repatriated to their rightful origins.
