SANDAKAN: The Sabah Lands and Surveys Department (JTU) will be organising the NIC programme, or the name and identity card number correction programme for land titles, to assist land title owners in rectifying inaccurate personal details in their land title documents.
The programme offers free correction services to Sabah land title owners and will be held over two days, scheduled for Sept 26 and 27 2026, from 8am to 5pm at Sandakan Community Hall.
For NT/FR land titles, the programme covers the Sandakan, Kinabatangan and Beluran districts, while for lease titles, it is open to land title owners from across Sabah.
Through the programme, the required information corrections are expected to be completed within a day, subject to complete and valid documentation.
Landowners wishing to utilise the service must bring their original land title and a copy, as well as their original identity card and a copy.
JTU also reminds the public that the person bringing the documents must be the actual land title owner.
Among the benefits of the NIC programme are ensuring more accurate and valid land records, as well as helping to prevent complications in future matters involving inheritance claims, land sales or banking transactions.
Accordingly, land title owners with errors in their names or identity card numbers on their titles are encouraged to take this opportunity to access the free service during the two-day programme.
