Still haven’t tried the new Shah Alam LRT Line? You’ve got another two weeks to ride it for free.

The government has extended the free ride period on the Shah Alam LRT Line until 14 August, giving commuters more time to use the new route without paying a fare.

The extended promotion also includes Rapid KL feeder bus services and free parking at participating Park N’ Ride stations, so you can leave your car there and continue your journey on the LRT at no extra cost.

The free ride campaign was originally scheduled to end on 31 July after the line opened to the public on 29 June. The extension means commuters can continue using both the LRT line and its feeder buses at no cost for another two weeks.

What You Need To Know

The 37.8km Shah Alam LRT Line connects Bandar Utama and Johan Setia through 20 stations across Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam and Klang. It also connects with existing LRT, MRT and KTM Komuter services, making it easier to travel across the Klang Valley without switching to a car.

Whether you’re commuting to work, going to class or planning a day out, the Shah Alam LRT Line connects you to destinations such as 1 Utama Shopping Centre via Bandar Utama Station, UiTM Shah Alam via UiTM Shah Alam Station, i-City via Seksyen 7 Shah Alam Station, and Klang town centre via Pasar Klang or Jalan Meru stations.

Although rides are free during the promotional period, you’ll still need to tap in and out using a valid Touch ‘n Go card or Rapid KL travel pass. If you’re using a Touch ‘n Go card, it must have at least RM5 stored value to enter the station, even though no fare will be deducted.

According to Rapid KL, the extension is intended to encourage more people to experience the new line and make greater use of public transport.

Once the free ride campaign ends, you can continue using the line with the My50 travel pass, which offers unlimited rides on Rapid KL rail services and feeder buses for RM50 a month.
