Gael Monfils carryies the hopes of the home crowd as the veteran Frenchman takes on the Italian Lorenzo Musetti in the night session, with the winner facing Djokovic in the third round. as the Serbian continues his bid to win a record 25th grand slam title at Roland Garros.
Earlier in the day, Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina cruised through in straight sets as they joined fellow favourite Iga Swiatek in advancing. Swiatek saved match point on her way to defeating a resurgent Naomi Osaka in a thrilling three-set battle. Swiatek, who prevailed in almost three hours, then called out the French Open crowd for making noise during points.
Meanwhile, French Open chiefs have banned alcohol from the stands following an incident involving David Goffin, in which the Belgian player claimed he was spat at during a raucous victory over Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.
