Both the men’s and women’s defending champions are in action on a blockbuster day two at the French Open.

The second grand slam of the year continues with Iga Swiatek - seeded just fifth after a disappointing slump this year - opening proceedings against Slovakia’s Rebecca Sramkova on Court Philippe-Chatrier.

Jannik Sinner is in action in the night session on the same show court, with defending men’s champion Carlos Alcaraz, fresh off winning the Masters 1000 title in Rome, starting his campaign against Giulio Zeppieri on Court Suzanne-Lenglen in the day session.

Former champions Stan Wawrinka and Barbora Krejcikova are also in action, the former opening against British rising star Jacob Fearnley, while Emma Raducanu will look to put a worrying back issue behind her in her first match at Roland Garros in three years.

The French Open runs until 8 June with rivals Alcaraz and Sinner hoping to meet in a grand slam final for the first time and renew hostilities.
