Friday’s sport: What’s on and where can I watch it?

British wildcard Arthur Fery will look to keep his Wimbledon fairy tale alive in his semi-final against second seed Alexander Zverev.

The World Cup quarter-finals continue with Spain facing Belgium.

Here is a guide to what is happening in the sporting world on Friday and where you can watch in the UK.

Can Fery finish the job?

Only four men have reached a grand slam men’s semi-final as a wildcard, with Fery joining Jimmy Connors (1991 US Open), Henri Leconte (1992 French Open) and Goran Ivanisevic (2001 Wimbledon). But only Ivanisevic went on to win the title. Second seed Zverev stands in his way and if Fery gets past him, world number one Jannik Sinner or 24-time grand slam winner Novak Djokovic await. Coverage starts on BBC Two at 1100 and BBC One at 1400.

Spain gathering momentum

Spain have yet to concede a goal in five matches at the World Cup and while their football has not been the most scintillating at times, they are getting the job done with minimum fuss. Not so Belgium, who have been criticised for their uninspiring play and were lucky to get out of jail against Senegal after being 2-0 down with four minutes to go. However, fuelled by a sense of injustice, they raised their game to put four past hosts United States but their European quarter-final opponents will be a significant step up. Coverage starts from 1930 on BBC One.

Stars out for Scottish Open

Scheffler is out early on Friday morning, McIlroy just before 2pm with home favourite Robert MacIntyre. Coverage starts on Sky Sports Golf and Sky Sports Main Event from 0830.

What else is on?

England’s women cricketers play India in the first Test at Lord’s (Sky Sports Cricket, Sky Sports Main Event from 1000). In the men’s Vitality Blast Men’s Vitality Blast, Lancashire Lightning host Yorkshire (Sky Sports Cricket and Sky Sports Main Event from 1855).
