Kota Kinabalu: The Malaysia-China Friendship Association Sabah will organise the “JOM! Malaysia-China 2024” on August 25 and the Chinese Cultural Grand Festival on Sept 13-23.

Both events are part of a series celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China, with the China Consulate-General in Kota Kinabalu as a supporting unit for these activities.

Its President Dr Oh Ei Sun said this during a recent courtesy visit to Chinese Consul-General in Kota Kinabalu Dr Huang Shifang.

Also present were Deputy Consul-General Ouyang Huifeng, the Malaysia-China Friendship Association Sabah Executive Vice President Steven Liaw, the Grand Festival Organising Committee Chairman Deric Chiew and the “JOM! Malaysia-China 2024” Organising Committee Chairman Michael Lim.

Lim said this year’s Malaysia-China Friendship Run has received sponsorship from the internationally renowned sports and leisure brand Skechers.

The total value of the lucky draw has increased from last year’s RM40,000 to RM60,508, with 350 prizes in total.

As this year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China, the event holds special significance.

Encouraged the public to actively participate the event, he said it will be held on August 25, starting at 6 am at the Independence Grounds in Kota Kinabalu and is expected to end at 10 am.

The run will cover a distance of seven kilometres.

The Malaysia-China Friendship Association Sabah welcomes all organisations, associations, schools, and individuals of all ethnic groups to participate and join the celebration.

The registration fee is RM80 per person. Participants will receive a Skechers brand T-shirt, a medal, a race number, an eco-friendly bag and a 30% discount voucher for Skechers products.
