Just today, we reported of a minor explosion that was heard at the Kelana Jaya LRT line yesterday evening (June 30).
The matter went viral on social media after a netizen shared a clip showing a bright spark glowing in the background, along with a loud bang as the train was moving along the tracks.
Rapid KL Confirms Small Explosion Sound That Was Heard At Kelana Jaya LRT Line
Following the incident, one person is calling for heads to roll at the Transport Minister, specifically its minister Anthony Loke.
‘Many thought they were going to die’
In a Facebook post, former Barisan Nasional (BN) strategic communications deputy director Datuk Eric See-To Choong wrote that passengers on the affected train were deeply traumitised by the incident.

“Some said they heard a loud explosion, after which the train suddenly went dark for a few seconds. Others claimed they saw sparks or what looked like an explosion beneath the train.
A passenger even wrote that they thought they were going to die, while some said they were crying and trembling after evacuating the train.”
See-To Choong also slammed the lack of a swift response and detailed explanation from relevant authorities regarding the incident.

‘Please resign!’
See-To Choong added this wasn’t the first time a similar incident had occurred, where he cited the “explosion” that took place at the Abdullah Hukum LRT station last March.
He then called on Anthony Loke to step down as Transport Minister for failing to improve public transportation and ensure the safety of passengers.
“When passengers believe they are about to die, it is not a “minor disruption”. It’s a major warning.
“P.S. Anthony Loke, please resign. Things are going from bad to worse,” he wrote.

Wire caused ‘explosion’
Meanwhile, RapidKL released a statement saying a melted thin wire was behind the “explosion” after it got caught in the power supply system.
No injuries were reported and further checks were carried out after operating hours as an additional safety measure.
RapidKL added it will continue to investigate the matter and said preventive measures will be taken to avoid similar incidents from reoccurring.
