Liverpool U23 coach Neil Critchley is delighted with the progress of their young players.
He was speaking after watching his side lose 4-1 to Manchester City at Anfield despite a number of strong performances - including from teenagers Sepp van den Berg and Harvey Elliott.
"Sepp is a real calming influence on the team," he told the Liverpool Echo.
"He has an assurance about his play and gives off an air of calmness at the back.
"Being vocal is something he can improve upon but I think that will come with the familiarity of being around the group and the players a little bit more - he's new to the group but he will gain more confidence to do that.
"What he has to do now, which is the same for a lot of the young players, is show real resilience and character.
"Harvey has been a real positive in the the last two games.
"He's learning how to play the position - which is maybe slightly different to what he's been asked to do before - but he's very intelligent and picks things up quickly.
"I thought his attitude and work ethic in the game, especially when we were losing, was really good - he never gives up and gives everything he's got.
"And he has got undoubted ability - which he shows - and hopefully we can get him into a few more of those goalscoring situations.
"He had one chance second-half that was a really good block, when it's on his left foot you actually expect him to score because I've seen him do that in training and I think goals will come to his game.
"It would be easy to be downhearted and deflated after losing 4-1 but it's my job and the job of our staff to make sure that we stick with them and they stick at it too.
"A lot of them go away on international duty now and hopefully they come back injury-free and ready to go again."
