Kota Kinabalu: The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition has always been ready for the general elections due no later than September next year.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, who is also the GRS Chairman, said certain parties have touted that it could be held as early as this year, thus believing they have to be ready now.
“But GRS has always been ready. Last Sunday a meeting with component leaders was held to discuss preparations. We have ordered election machineries be activated in every constituency. We are also having a roadshow programme across Sabah in August to meet future voters,” said Hajiji.
Meanwhile, Hajiji denied the coalition had rejected numerous parties from rallying under the GRS banner.
“This needs to be corrected…we will only table it in the next meeting scheduled in October. And then we will know the answer.
“GRS is open to all parties, especially local parties who understand its struggles. Our goal is to unite everyone under the same flag. Give us some thinking space and we will do our best for them and Sabah ultimately,” he said.
