Kota Kinabalu: Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) has dismissed claims by Sabah Umno information chief Datuk Suhaimi Nasir that Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor had abused his power in the Sabah Forest Industries (SFI) issue.

Gagasan Rakyat information chief Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan (pic) said the accusation was malicious and misleading, noting that the RM1.4 billion case mentioned by Suhaimi was a civil suit still pending before the Kota Kinabalu High Court, not a criminal charge.

He said State Attorney-General Datuk Brenndon Keith Soh had clarified that the allegations were baseless as the matter involved ongoing litigation between the parties, and the State Government remained confident the truth would prevail in due course.

Nizam said Suhaimi and his allies had ignored the fact that the SFI problem stemmed from the Warisan administration in 2018, and that the company’s failure was not linked to the current GRS-led government.

He stressed that SFI is a private entity with the State Government holding only a two per cent stake, describing Suhaimi’s remarks as an attempt to mislead the public and divert attention from Umno’s failures to defend the interests of the people of Sabah.
