TAMBUNAN: Sabah’s political scene heats up ahead of the upcoming state election, with Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor saying the official candidate announcement is expected this Thursday after the Election Commission’s briefing.
He said all parties are actively preparing for the polls, while expressing confidence that the GRS–PH coalition will retain voters’ trust based on its achievements over the past five years.
Hajiji highlighted major initiatives including RM1.2 billion spent on education, the highest in Sabah’s history, as well as welfare aid for the poor and housing for low-income families.
He also cited the state’s agreement with Petronas as a key milestone creating more opportunities in the oil and gas sector.
“Despite opposition criticism, our record speaks for itself. I trust the people will judge us fairly,” he said.
The Chief Minister added that GRS’s election manifesto will be unveiled after candidate confirmation, promising it will be “realistic and people-focused.”
