Gary Neville made a “Pizzagate” reference to Patrick Vieira and Roy Keane as the Spanish team tucked into the popular dish following their semi-final win.
As Luis de la Fuente’s team enjoyed some slices following their 2-0 win against France on Tuesday (15 July), the ITV pundits commented on the feast.
“I don’t think Arsène Wenger would approve of pizza after a match,” said Mark Pougatch, in reference to an infamous Arsenal vs Manchester United post-match clash in 2004.
Wenger’s team were left furious after Sir Alex Ferguson’s side ended their 49-match unbeaten Premier League run. Tensions culminated when a slice of pizza hit Sir Alex in the face during a tunnel brawl.
Vieira, who played for Arsenal at the time, said: “If you win a semi-final, you should be allowed to do that.”
“They used to throw pizza,” laughed Neville, who spent his entire career with Manchester United.
