A team of the CM’s flying squad and Food and Supplies Department has detected alleged irregularities in the storage and distribution of domestic LPG cylinders at an illegal warehouse following a raid at the office and godown of the Haryana Land Reclamation and Development Corporation gas agency.
The agency is located near several sensitive government establishments, including airport, District Police Lines and Women’s Police Station. The team seized 881 cylinders and submitted a complaint to the police for action against the agency.
Sources said it was a serious issue as any fire or explosion in the area could have posed a threat to public safety.
The team was led by Sunaina, incharge of the flying squad (Hisar range), and Assistant Food and Supplies Officer Shrawan Kumar, among other officials.
According to officials, the agency’’s approved warehouse is located elsewhere, but operators had converted a large hall adjacent to the office into an illegal storage facility without obtaining permission. During the inspection, the team found 619 empty and 241 filled cylinders of 14.2 kg capacity, along with 16 empty and five filled commercial cylinders of 5 kg capacity.
The flying squad has filed a complaint with the police and forwarded a report to senior authorities for further action. Sunaina said all agencies must store cylinders in licensed and approved warehouses and follow safety regulations.
