Its caretaker Minister, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said an investigation will only be made after a police report has been made by any party.
According to him, if the leaked personal information contains a phone number then it is not from EC data. "If there is a phone number, it means that it is not the EC that has it. If it's the EC, then it only gives the name and ID number.
"That's not right (leakage of personal data), there must be people who cheat just to make a profit.
"When there is a police report we will investigate. At the moment there has been no official (report) of receiving things like this," he told reporters after the Jelajah Perikatan Nasional (PN) programme with Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin on Saturday.
The alleged leaked personal data contained voters' information from the EC database involving 800,000 photos of voters and their MyKad.
EC collected these photos as part of the Daftar MySPR website which was launched in 2019.
