GE15: Sole independent candidate in Terengganu stands in Dungun

The seven parliamentary seats - Besut, Setiu, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu, Marang and Kemaman are contested by four political parties namely Pas, Barisan Nasional (BN), Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Pejuang.

Ghazali Ismail, a lawyer who is contesting the Dungun parliamentary seat as an Independent, will face off against four other candidates, incumbent Wan Hassan Mohd Ramli of Pas, Datuk Dr Mohd Johari Mohamad (PH-PKR), Nurhisam Johari (BN-Umno) and Nor Aisah Hasan (Pejuang).

For the Hulu Terengganu parliamentary seat, all the candidates are former educators, namely Datuk Rosol Wahid of Perikatan Nasional (PN-Bersatu), Datuk Rozi Mamat (BN-Umno), Alias Ismail (PH-Amanah) and Mohd Khadri Abdullah (Pejuang).

Former Terengganu menteri besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said who is also state BN chairman is facing a four-cornered fight in his first bid for a parliamentary seat in Kemaman.

His contenders are Che Alias Hamid of Pas, Hasuni Sudin (PH-PKR) and Rosli Ab Ghani (Pejuang).

For Kuala Nerus, incumbent Datuk Dr Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali is contesting on the BN ticket after leaving Pas last March.

Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, 75, ended the rumours that he would not defend the Marang parliamentary seat due to age and health factors, when he appeared at the nomination centre at the Marang District and Land Office to submit his nomination papers. - BERNAMA
