Freshers Week 2024 is coming to a close, and The Independent spoke to a number of first-year university students about whether drinking culture is dying out.

It comes after a World Finance report showed that overall, Gen-Z are drinking 20 per cent less than Millennials.

"It's much harder to fit in with everyone", one student admitted, while another added that young people are "surprised" to find out that they don't drink alcohol.

Other students reported that universities were now making more of an effort to put on non-drinking-related activities during the infamous first week.
