SHAH ALAM - Perikatan National (PN) has agreed to put Gerakan Party President Datuk Dr Dominic Lau Hoe Chai as the PN candidate for the Bayan Lepas State Legislative Assembly seat in Penang.
The matter was confirmed by PN Secretary General, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin through a statement on Thursday.
Previously, the media reported that a candidate nomination conflict had arisen after Pas Dun Bayan Lepas expressed dissatisfaction with Dominic's desire to run for the seat.
They decided to boycott the nomination process if Dominic still insisted on running for the seat.
There are three DUNs under the Balik Pulau Parliament, namely Bayan Lepas, Pulau Betong and Teluk Bahang.
Recently, the media also reported that the Tasek Gelugor PAS Youth Council had urged Dominic to step down and not dream of contesting for the Malay majority seat in Tasek Gelugor.
