Germany's Francesco Friedrich has said he plans to continue his glittering bobsleigh career until competing at his fifth Olympics in 2030.

Friedrich, 36, is the most successful bobsleigh athlete of all time with 16 world titles, four golds and two silvers from the last three Olympics and 89 World Cup wins.

"Bob sport is still my passion: why should I give it up when I can still do well and enjoy it. The fiddling about, training with the team in summer, preparing the season and then contesting the season at this level," he said.

Friedrich won two-man and four-man Olympic gold in 2018 and 2022 and two silvers this year at Milan/Cortina behind German Rival Johannes Lochner.

Lochner has now retired and his best push man Georg Fleischhauer has joined the Friedrich crew. The first big test will be next year's world championships in Lillehammer, Norway.
