KOTA KINABALU: A German national was charged in the Sessions Court here with illegally entering Sabah and obstructing an immigration officer from carrying out his duties.
Kuecuekboga Suleyman, who could not have his plea recorded after claiming he did not understand the charges despite an interpreter being present, told the court he intends to appoint a lawyer.
He is accused of entering Sabah without valid travel documents on April 27 at the Immigration Department premises along Jalan UMS under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
He also faces a second charge of obstructing an immigration officer from recording his statement on May 5 under Section 56(g)(1) of the same Act.
The court fixed June 22 for mention and ordered him to remain in remand.
